A kitchen range hood is used to remove odors and fumes from a kitchen. Hoods also reduce the amount of airborne grease in a kitchen, helping to keep the kitchen clean. Since range hoods remove moisture, they can also help eliminate mold and mildew.

There are two types of kitchen range hoods. The ductless range hood uses a charcoal filter to remove grease and fumes. A range hood with a duct exhausts to the outside of the building, either through a wall or the roof. This exchange of air helps keep a kitchen area cooler and more pleasant to work in.
