Kutamani Tanzanite is gemstone prized for its blue or violet color. The gemstone comes from Tanzania. The word "kutamani" is a Swahili word that translates to "aspire."
Tanzanite is a type of zoisite from the epidote group. Discovered in 1967 in the Manyara region of Tanzania, naturally formed tanzanite is rare and only found in the Mererani Hills of Tanzania, as of 2015.
Depending on the crystal orientation, it ranges from blue to violet or burgundy in color. Lighting conditions also affect the appearance of this gemstone. Fluorescent lights bring out the blue and incandescent lights accentuate the violet hues.
