What do the Kwakiutl use for shelter?

The Kwakiutl nation, one of many of the Kwawkwakawakw people, dwells in traditional housing with a heavy timber frame and plank walls, typically of cedar, for permanent residences. These dwellings are used through the winter months. These permanent dwellings are often decorated with carved and colored wooden facades.
During the summer season, the Kwakiutl migrate; the planks of the houses are removed and taken with them to build short-term structures with a light pole framework closer to fishing areas. These Native Americans are situated on the Pacific Northwest Coast of Canada; the majority of the population, as of 2015, lives on Vancouver Island and the surrounding archipelago and mainland areas.
