When and where is the L.A. County Sheriff Race in 2015?

As of 2015, the most recent Los Angeles County Sheriff election was held in November of 2014. As the county sheriff serves a four-year term, the next election for Los Angeles County Sheriff is in 2018.

In the November 2014 general election, Jim McDonnell, the Long Beach Police Chief, defeated Paul Tanaka, the former Los Angeles County Assistant Sheriff, by more than 50 percentage points. In the non-partisan, top two primary election held earlier in the year, McDonnell received nearly 50 percent of the vote while Tanaka received just 15 percent. Due to the primary election results, news reports indicated that Tanaka had abandoned his campaign for the general election.
