A larch tree has a cone-shaped crown that expands as the tree ages. The tree has pinkish brown bark, and the twigs of the larch tree are hairless and amber or light pink.
The larch tree, also called the juniper, can grow to be approximately 98 feet long and lives for 250 years. The leaves of the tree are soft and light green, turning yellow in the fall. Larch trees are also monoecious, meaning that male and female flowers grow on the same tree. The female flowers are referred to as larch roses, and the male flowers grow under the shoots of the tree.
