Where do leopard geckos live?

Leopard geckos are distributed across rock deserts and arid grasslands in Afghanistan, northwest India, Pakistan, Iran and Iraq. They spend their days in holes and crevices avoiding the heat of the sun and come out at night to hunt on the ground.
Unlike some other geckos, leopard geckos lack the adhesive lamella necessary to stick to surfaces and climb. Instead, they have small claws at the end of their digits, useful in sandy environments. For this reason, leopard geckos are principally ground-dwelling creatures and rarely climb. In the wild, leopard geckos eat other lizards, spiders, insects and even scorpions, as they are not affected by scorpion venom.
