What is the life span of a monkey?

The lifespan of a monkey is between 10 and 50 years, depending on the species. For example, a woolly monkey typically lives almost 26 years, while a mitered leaf monkey has a natural life of about 16 years. On average, the black-faced spider monkey lives 40 years.

Monkeys are classified into two categories. Old world monkeys live in Africa, Japan, India and other parts of Asia. These animals include macaques, baboons and colobus monkeys. New world monkeys, such as spider, howler and squirrel species, are found in Mexico and Central and South America. Independent of classification, most monkeys live in trees, but a few species are ground-dwellers.
