What is a list of all "Sonic" characters?

Although there were only about 5 recurring characters in the original Sonic games, there are many others that have appeared in more recent games. According to the Universal Video Game List, there are 25 characters in the series.

The complete list of characters in Sonic the Hedgehog is:

1. Sonic the Hedgehog

2. Knuckles the Echidna

3. Amy Rose

4. Blaze the Cat

5. Silver the Hedgehog

6. Miles "Tails" Prower

7. Rouge the Bat

8. Shadow the Hedgehog

9. Cream the Rabbit

10. Big the Cat

11. Chaos

12. Doctor Ivo Robotnik ("Eggman")

13. Doctor Eggman Nega

14. Marine the Raccoon

15. Metal Sonic

16. Shade

17. Wave the Swallow

18. Cheese

19. Ray the Flying Squirrel

20. Vector the Crocodile

21. Charmy Bee

22. Espio the Chameleon

23. Jet the Hawk

24. Mighty the Armadillo

25. Storm the Albatross

While this list includes all main antagonists and protagonists, it does not include one-shot characters. These include Tikal from Sonic Adventure and Omochao and Maria from Sonic Adventure 2. Furthermore, it does not include the E-Series Robots (E-100 Alpha, E-102 Gamma and E-123 Omega) who played a large role in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes. This list is specifically designed to include characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog video games and therefore does not include any characters exclusive to the Sonic anime and TV shows.
