The Whos, including Cindy-Lou, live in Whoville, according to the children's book "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss. The Grinch and his dog, Max, live on nearby Mount Crumpit.
The Whos are creatures that resemble animals, with 12 toes and canine snouts. They live in houses shaped like pumpkins and are known for being generous and welcoming. Whoville also appears in "Horton Hears a Who." The town mayor has 96 daughters and a son named Jo-Jo.
Dr. Seuss was the pen name of Theodore Geisel, who grew up in Springfield, MA. Reportedly, the nearby town of Easthampton and its residents were the inspiration for the Whos and Whoville.
