Do lizards eat plants?

There are many lizards that are herbivorous and exclusively eat plants, while there are also some lizards that are omnivorous or carnivorous. Most pet lizards are omnivorous and need a variety of food including plants, insects and fruit to meet nutritional requirements.
There are over 3,800 recorded species of lizards. Small lizards survive mostly on insects and plants. Iguanas are herbivorous and enjoy a diet of plants, vegetables and fruit. Bearded dragons are omnivorous and eat plants in addition to crickets and mice. Larger lizards like the komodo dragon are typically carnivorous and hunt prey that includes deer and pigs.
