How long do dolphins live?

Wild dolphins usually live for between 25 to 30 years, while dolphins in captivity live to be around 40 years old on average. Few dolphins in the wild die of old age.

Dolphins give birth every two to three years. Since dolphins reach sexual maturity at 8 years old, female dolphins give birth as many as eight times during their lives. These births typically happen in spring and summer. Dolphins are also known as one of the few animals that are sexually promiscuous.
