Where do pink dolphins live?

Pink dolphins live in the Amazon, Araguaia and Orinoco river systems in South America. The dolphins, also known as Amazon river dolphins, live in portions of the river systems that pass through Bolivia, Brazil, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.

Pink dolphins are the only South American dolphins that live entirely in freshwater. Their name comes from the carnation pink color some of the dolphins sport. Other members of the species are light gray. The preferred habitat of the pink dolphin is lowland rivers and flood plains. They have flexible necks that are capable of turning 90 degrees, which help them navigate through flooded forest areas and narrow, twisting rivers.
