How long has the Hellman's company been in business?

As of 2015, the Hellmann's company has been in business for 110 years. The founder of the Hellmann's company was a German immigrant named Richard Hellmann, who sold the company's first mayonnaise product in New York City in 1905.

With the help of his grandmother's recipe, the proceeds from the sales of Richard Hellmann's mayonnaise were profitable enough for him to open a factory in 1912 for mass production. Just a year later, Hellmann created the blue ribbon logo to assist consumers in identifying his products. In 1932, Best Foods Inc. acquired Rich Hellmann's company, resulting in Hellmann's-branded mayonnaise being sold east of the Rockies while the Best Foods brand is sold in the West.
