How long should you feed your dog puppy food?

Because puppies require a diet that is rich in protein, carbohydrates, fats and vitamins, they should be fed puppy food until they are at least 1 year of age. After 1 year of age, puppies can be gradually transitioned to adult dog food.
When transitioning puppies to adult dog food, it should be done over the course of a week. Puppies should be fed 3 meals per day until the age of 6 months, at which point they should be fed twice per day. Puppies can be fed a mixture of adult dog and puppy food, with the amount of adult dog food being increased each day until the dog is eating adult dog food exclusively.
