How long should it take to fry catfish?

Catfish can be either pan- or deep-fried and should be completely cooked within 4-6 minutes. Fried catfish is seasoned, coated with a moistening agent and then dredged in a dry coating before frying.

When shallow-frying in a skillet, make sure that there is plenty of oil or melted butter in the pan, which should be on medium-high heat. Fry the fish on one side of the fillet for 2 minutes, then turn the fish carefully and fry on the other side for 2 minutes. When deep-frying catfish, preheat the deep fry to 360 degrees Fahrenheit, then dip one or two fillets in at a time and fry for up to 6 minutes, turning the fish if necessary. Drain the catfish on apaper towel and serve warm.
