The typical lifespan of stick insects, also referred to as walking sticks, is usually around two years. The nymph of the stick insect looks like a miniature version of the adult. Stick insects reach maturity between the age of three months and one year.
Stick insects look like a twig from a tree or plant. Predators have a hard time finding them, as the stick insects blend closely with the plants they are feeding on. The insect can grow from 1 to 12 inches long. The males of the species are typically larger than the females. They typically eat leaves and are found in woodlands and tropical forests on all continents except Antarctica.
