The training to become a paramedic takes more than 1,000 hours, with most training programs taking between 1,200 and 1,800 hours to complete. The training program includes classroom lectures, in-field practical skills training, and a period of supervised clinical work or internship at an approved institution.

Paramedics are highly advanced professionals in the emergency medical services. In order to become a paramedic, an individual needs to have a high-school diploma and be an emergency medical technician with at least six months of experience. The aspiring paramedic should then complete a paramedic training program and obtain a course-completion certificate. This needs to be followed by applying and obtaining the paramedic certification within two years.
