The Lumosity scam refers to the Lumosity website, which charges users to access various brain-training games. The games target various areas such as memory, speed, attention, flexibility and problem solving. As of 2014, there is no scientific evidence supporting the effectiveness of brain-training games.

There are other proven and more cost-effective ways to train the brain. Studies have demonstrated that playing chess improves the ability to plan ahead and helps the elderly maintain their mental dexterity for a longer period of time. Reading helps to increase long-term memory and knowledge. Taking different routes home is also known to help with brain development.
