What is the major dietary source for lipids?
By Forinfos - 04/02/2025 - 0 comments
Dietary lipids include both saturated and unsaturated fats and oils. Major sources of saturated, or unhealthful, dietary fats are meat, dairy cream, coconut oil and cheese. Olives, avocados and almonds are excellent sources of beneficial unsaturated lipids.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends that adults consume no more than 10 percent of their daily caloric intake in the form of saturated fat. The USDA also suggests that adults avoid trans fatty acids. Lipids comprise a diverse group of solid fats, liquid oils and waxes. Neither fat nor oil can be dissolved in water, but both are soluble in acetone, ether and other lipids.
