Vanilla-flavored white candy coating, also known as confectionery coating or almond bark, can be prepared by melting on the stove, the microwave or a double boiler. The discs or chips are easiest to melt and can coat fruits, nuts, cookies, crackers or pretzels and become firm at room temperature.
To make white candy coating:
- Stove top preparation Melt almond bark on low heat or in a double-boiler over hot, not boiling, water. Stir consistently to prevent scorching.
- Microwave preparation In a microwave-safe container, melt the almond bark. Start with one minute on medium setting, stir and microwave in 30-second increments until the coating is melted to desired consistency.
