How many babies can a mouse have at one time?

The litter size of a mouse is between five and seven pups. Adult mice can have up to 10 litters per year. All mice reach sexual maturity about a month after being born. Males reach maturity faster than females.
It takes baby mice 12 to 14 days to open their eyes. Once this happens, they become ready for solid food and no longer need their mothers' milk. While mice do breed year round, their population is kept under control by predators such as owls and hawks. Their lifespan usually averages about five years. Wild mice have a 50 percent survival rate beyond five months of age.
