How many bottles of wine are in a magnum?
By Forinfos - 05/05/2025 - 0 comments
A magnum of wine contains 1.5 liters of wine, which is the equivalent of two bottles of wine. Champagne and sparkling wines, as well as Bordeaux-style wines and Burgundy-style wines all are sold in magnum-size bottles.
Although the United States does not embrace the metric system, wines are sold in variations of the liter. A standard-size bottle of wine is equivalent to 750 milliliters or .75 of a liter, which is approximate to 25 fluid ounces. Other sizes of wine bottles that are available in all three wine styles include:
- Demi (half) - 375 milliliters
- Jeroboam (double magnum) - 4 liters
- Salmanazar - 9 liters
- Balthazar - 12 liters
- Nebuchadnezzar - 15 liters
- Melchior - 18 liters
