How many drinks are in a bottle of wine?

Typically there are five 5-ounce servings of wine in one standard-size bottle. It is important to understand the measure of a standard serving, which is not dictated by glass size.

A regular bottle of wine contains just over 25 fluid ounces, with each serving about 5 fluid ounces. There are numerous styles of wine glasses, but their sizes are independent to the measure of servings. Even though there is considerable air space above a standard measure of wine in a large glass, this is for optimizing the wine's "nose," or its bouquet. A rough calculation has an average-size wine glass almost half full with a 5-ounce serving of wine.
