How many days do pigeon eggs take to hatch?

Pigeon eggs take 18 days to hatch. During this period, both parents take turns incubating the eggs. The male sits on them each morning until late afternoon, and the female spends the evening, overnight period and early morning on them.

Once hatched, the baby birds are fed a special, milky liquid by both parents. This substance is not true milk produced by mammary glands but rather a nutritious liquid created in the birds' crops, or throat pockets. After a week, the young birds' systems are strong enough to digest seeds and fruits, and they are fed both foods for the remainder of the month they spend in the nest.
