The series, "El Cartel do los Sapos" was produced by Caracol Television, and stars Manolo Cardona and Neal Kodinsky; the actors play two friends who get wrapped up in the allure of quick money associated with illegal drug trafficking. The adaptation of the series to film was directed by Carlos Moreno — Manolo Cardona returned to star in the film and assisted in its production. Critics were not impressed with the full-length film, noting that its plot fell flat.
