How many trees are saved by recycling paper?

Converted to weight, the average American consumes 680 pounds of paper per year. By recycling 1/10th of newspapers used in the U.S. each year, 25,000.000 trees are saved. If all newspapers were recycled, up to 250,000,000 trees would be saved. Every week, 500,000 trees are used for the Sunday edition of the newspapers in the United States alone.
