How many years is a full term for a representative?

In the United States House of Representatives a full term is two years, with elections being held in every even-numbered year. For state representatives, a full term is either two or four years depending on the laws of the particular state.

There are 44 U.S. states that have a two year term for state senators, and only five states that have a four year term: Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, North Dakota and Maryland. Nebraska is the only state that doesn't have a House of Representatives, as the upper and lower houses were consolidated into one after voter's approved an amendment to the state's constitution in 1934.
