The Microsoft Notebook Receiver is a small device that plugs into the USB port of a notebook or laptop and receives signals from a wireless mouse. Version 2.0 of the device comes with a number of Microsoft wireless products.
The two devices communicate by way of wireless radio transmissions. Microsoft devices that use this receiver include the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 v2.0, Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 700 v2.0 and Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 v2.0. The Microsoft USB Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse series also uses these receivers and comes with model number 1051 of the device. The Microsoft part number for the device is X806553-001.
