What is the minimum salary for an NHL rookie?

As of 2014, the minimum annual salary for any NHL player is $525,000. In 2021-22, the final year of the current collective bargaining agreement, this minimum salary will increase to $750,000.

Players under the age of 25 and in their first season sign an entry-level contract that is subject to some unique terms. In addition to the base salary, the player can receive a signing bonus of up to 10 percent. A series of potential performance bonuses can also be offered for things like total ice time, number of goals or assists, and receiving certain league awards or trophies, such as the Hart or Norris.
