What is the money of Ecuador called?

As of Dec. 23, 2014, the currency used in Ecuador is the United States Dollar. Prior to this transition, the Ecuadorian currency was called the sucre, which was named after a revolutionary war hero named Antonio Jose de Sucre.
A key difference of the dollar cons used in Ecuador is that they are printed with the image of famous Ecuadorians rather than U.S. presidents. As of 2014, the dollar bills used in Ecuador still follow the same design as their U.S. counterparts. The decision to shift from the sucre to the U.S. dollar was made by the Ecuadorian government as a way to curb high rates of inflation.
