Where is Mongolia located?

Mongolia is located in northern Asia, between Russia and China. Mongolia is bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south, east and west. Mongolia comprises a total area of about 604,000 square miles, making it a little smaller than the state of Alaska.

The capital and largest city of Mongolia is Ulaanbaatar, and roughly half the country's population resides there. Mongolia has a population of approximately three million people as of 2014. The median age in Mongolia is about 27 years old. More than 50 percent of the population follows Buddhism. Mongolia has a population growth rate of about 1.37 percent as of 2014.
