Where do mongoose live?

The mongoose can be found in parts of Europe, Africa and Asia. Although not a native, it can also be found in the Caribbean, where it was introduced by man.

Mongoose are omnivores, so they eat both animals and plants, and they are opportunistic eaters that will eat whatever is found in their natural environments. They live in treetops and can also spend much of their time in the water. Their main prey, when available, are rats, insects and eggs. They adapt well to their habitats and are generally found in the grassy plains or the open forests wherever they live.

The mongoose is threatened by a variety of predators, with the hawk, jackal and snake being the most typical.
