What is the mortality rate for prostate cancer?

Including all stages of the disease, the five-year survival rate for prostate cancer is nearly 100 percent, says the American Cancer Society. Using the same method of calculation, the 10-year survival rate is 99 percent, and the 15-year survival rate is 94 percent.
Because prostate cancer tends to grow and spread slowly, it has one of the highest survival rates among all types of cancer, says WebMD. Although one out of every seven men develop prostate cancer in their lifetime, only one out of every 36 men dies of the disease. Two thirds of elderly men who die from other causes have undiagnosed prostate cancer.
