Where is Mount Merapi located?

Mount Merapi is a volcano located north of Yogyakarta, the capital of the Indonesian province of Central Java. The volcano is still active and regularly erupts every five to 10 years, generating deadly pyroclastic flows.
The name "Merapi" in Javanese means "fire-maker" and is a common name for volcanoes in the Indonesian region. Mount Merapi is the youngest volcano in the region and is located at the very south of a volcanic chain that starts at Ungaran volcano. Mount Merapi last erupted between Oct. 2010 and Feb. 2011. Activity is measured and monitored at the Merapi Volcano Observatory located in Yogyakarta.
