Mount Everest is located on the border between Nepal and Tibet in the Himalayan Mountains in Asia. It is situated on the Tibetan Plateau, also called Qing Zang Gaoyuan.
Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world, rising to 29,085 feet, or 8,850 meters, above sea level. The first people to reach the summit of Mount Everest were Sir Edmund Hillary from New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay from Nepal. Apa Sherpa holds the record of reaching the summit 21 times, while American David Hahn has done so 13 times. The youngest mountaineer to reach the summit is Jordan Romero, a 13-year-old boy from California.
