Where is Mt. Everest located?

Mount Everest is located in the Himalayan mountain range and straddles the border between Nepal and China. On the Nepal side, Mount Everest is part of the Solukhumbu District and is locally referred to as Sagarm?th?. In China, Mount Everest falls within the Tibet Autonomous Region.

According to an official Chinese measurement in 1975, the mountain's height stands at 29,029 feet above sea level, making it the tallest peak on Earth. The peak of Mount Everest was first successfully reached on May 29, 1953, by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. The first successful winter ascent was done in 1980 by Leszek Cichy and Krzysztof Wielicki.
