Both Canadian residents and non-Canadian visitors to Canada may bring up to 8.5 liters of beer into Canada. In normal 355-milliliter cans or bottles of beer, this equals 24 servings.
All importation of beer and other liquors requires that the citizen be of legal age in the province to which he is traveling. In addition to the permitted amount, beer in excess of 8.5 liters may also be imported, but customs and duties must be paid. If bottles and cans contains more than 355 milliliters, then beer limits are strictly based on the total of 8.5 liters. Additionally, coolers are classified according to whether they are beer coolers or wine coolers.
