How much cholesterol per day is healthy?

The American Heart Association recommends a maximum daily cholesterol intake of no more than 300 milligrams, reports WebMD. People with heart disease should adhere to a lower limit of 200 milligrams per day. Staying away from foods with a high amount of saturated fat or dietary cholesterol reduces total intake.
Other ways to improve cholesterol levels include starting a regular habit of exercise. In some people, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol increases with exercise, which also manages weight and blood pressure. If changes to the diet are insufficient, the medicines that a doctor prescribes can bring cholesterol levels down as well, according to WebMD.
