How much denture adhesive should be used?

The FDA recommends following the instructions that come with the denture adhesive and, if these instructions are unclear, to contact a dental professional for help. Users should start off using a small amount of the adhesive. If the adhesive seeps out of the dentures, it is too much.
One way for the user to determine if he uses too much denture adhesive is to keep track of when he opens a new tube. A 2.4 ounce tube of adhesive should last seven to eight weeks, if it is used for both top and bottom dentures, explains the FDA. Also, dentures should fit properly because no amount of adhesive can account for this problem.
