A whole avocado contains 4.02 grams of protein. The USDA suggested serving size for avocado is 1 ounce; avocados are generally around 5 ounces, or servings, per fruit. The majority of an avocado is made up of fats, with a single fruit containing 29.47 grams of total fat.
The majority of the fat, however, is healthy monounsaturated fat, with 19.7 grams per fruit. Saturated and polyunsaturated fats split the remainder of the fats per fruit.
Avocado, also known as alligator pears due to their rough skin and pear-like shape, is botanically considered a large berry. The fruit grows around a single large seed.
