How much protein is in oatmeal?

A cup of oatmeal contains approximately 6 grams of protein. Making oatmeal with milk instead of water increases the protein. Additionally, oatmeal contains significant amounts of fiber, magnesium, thiamin, zinc, phosphorous, iron, manganese and selenium.
Oatmeal is high in both soluble and insoluble fiber. The insoluble fiber in oatmeal stays in the stomach, making people who it feel satiated for longer than those who eat low-fiber breakfasts. This may help dieters who eat oatmeal lose weight by preventing overeating later in the day. Studies show that eating soluble fiber reduces LDL cholesterol levels, decreases blood pressure and promotes heart health.
