How much do pugs weigh?

Adult pugs typically weigh between 14 to18 pounds. Pugs are prone to overeating, so owners need to closely control how much food the dogs get. When overfed, pugs gain weight quickly, and obesity is a serious potential problem.

Pugs average 10 to 14 inches in height at the shoulder. They usually have black or tan coats that shed easily. Their muzzles are black and flat. Pugs have many facial folds that need to be kept clean and dry, or infection develops. Their eyes are large and bulging, so they must be protected from soap and other chemicals. Eye diseases and injuries, such as dry eyes, corneal ulcers and dislodged eyeballs, are possible problems for the breed.
