What name do Eskimos prefer to be called?

Inuit peoples generally prefer to be referred to as Inuits instead of Eskimos since the latter is widely considered to be derogatory. An Eskimo is a common term that refers to Inuit and Yupik peoples residing in Alaska, Canada, Siberia and Green land, although the term is falling out of use and is considered taboo by many.
Inuit translates to "people" and is widely used throughout Canada, while Inuit people living in Greenland simply refer to themselves as Greenlanders. In Alaska, the term Eskimo is more readily accepted since the name Inuit is generally thought of as only referring to the native peoples residing in the northern part of the country.
