The naturalization date refers to the date a person became a citizen of a country different from that where he or she was born. In the United States, an individual may qualify for naturalization if he or she has been a permanent resident for at least 5 years.
To apply for naturalization in the United States, an individual needs to meet several requirements. These include being 18 or older at the time of filing, holding a green card for at least 5 years before applying for naturalization, having lived in the state where he or she submits the application for at least 3 months and more.
