Do you need a college education to become a pastor?

Most religious denominations do require a college education. Some denominations require a graduate level degree in theology, while others require a simple, formal education.

There are several duties of a church pastor, including leading weddings, funerals and their congregation. There are several skills that theological students need to develop before becoming a pastor. Some of these skills include having solid ethics, being okay with volunteering a lot of time, the ability to motivate people and being comfortable speaking in front of a large group. A potential pastor must have the ability to be a good listener, since the pastor must handle others' problems and give out advice.
