Some newer ships sailing on Viking cruises are the latest Viking Longships Skirnir and Rolf, two of 12 ships launched in Spring 2015, to cruise the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers. Two smaller ships, the Beyla and Astrild, also launched in 2015, are specially designed to cruise the River Elbe.

The newer Viking Longships, which sleep up to 190 guests in three decks, have rounded bows and offset main passageways that allow more space for accommodations, including the Explorer Suites with a wraparound veranda and Veranda Suites with a separate living room. The new smaller Viking ships Beyla and Astrild, which can accommodate up to 98 guests in 46 staterooms, are built of lighter materials and have two decks, enabling them to safely navigate the Elbe River.
