The number of postal holidays does not change every year. The United States Postal Service is closed due to postal holidays 10 days each year.
The day on which certain holidays fall or are observed often change from year to year. For example, if Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, the Post Office is closed on the Monday of Dec. 26. The observed holidays in the first half of the year are New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, Presidents Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day. In the second half of the year, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas are observed.
