Each cup of strawberries provides vitamin C, potassium, calcium, folate, iron and dietary fiber, according to California Strawberries. The fruit is also a significant source of antioxidants.
Although 1 cup of strawberries contains no fat and only 45 calories, it includes the following daily nutritional requirements: 4 percent of iron, 6 percent of potassium, 2 percent of calcium, 8 percent of folate (a B vitamin), 3 percent of dietary fiber and 140 percent of vitamin C. Strawberries are said to help prevent heart disease and cancer because of the antioxidant capacity of the fruit. Strawberries are also rich in flavonoids and other compounds with anticancer properties.
