Only one issue appeared on the Ohio ballot in 2014. Issue 1 concerned the use of general obligation monetary bonds to fund public infrastructure in the state. It appeared on the May 6 ballot, and passed with 65 percent of voters in favor of it.
Issue 1 proposed setting aside $1.875 billion in general use bonds over 10 years. This money was to be used to fund infrastructure projects, such as roads and bridges, around the state. The issue was sponsored in the Ohio Legislature by Sen. Kevin Bacon and Sen. Gayle Manning, both Republicans, from Districts 3 and 13 respectively.
