What organ produces insulin?

The pancreas is the organ responsible for producing insulin in the human body. The pancreas is located near the midsection of the body by the stomach.
Insulin is an important hormone that the body produces in order to remove glucose from the bloodstream and transport it to the muscles. When insulin levels are high, this also prevents the release of stored fat, while also promoting storage of the lipids in the bloodstream. If the pancreas cannot create insulin as needed, a person has a condition known as diabetes. This means that they can no longer regulate their blood sugar properly, which can lead to significant health issues like cardiovascular disease.
